The Just Eat alternative that takes no commission.
Marketplace apps are good at finding new customers. They're an expensive way to serve the regulars who already know you. DirectServe gives your takeaway its own branded ordering site, sends every payment straight into your own Stripe account and prints each order on your till, with no commission taken on any order.
Delivery apps vs your own ordering site.
Just Eat, Uber Eats, Deliveroo and white label platforms all work differently, so check your own contract. This is the general picture for an independent takeaway.
| Delivery apps | DirectServe | |
|---|---|---|
| Fees | A percentage of every order, plus fees | None. XMD takes no cut of your orders |
| Getting paid | Paid out on the platform's schedule | Straight into your own Stripe account |
| Your customers | The platform owns the relationship and the data | You own your customer list |
| Branding | Listed next to every competitor in town | Your brand, on your own domain |
| Orders in the kitchen | A tablet to watch and notifications to accept | The till prints every order automatically |
| Customer updates | Through the platform's app | SMS from your business, no app download |
Your regulars shouldn't cost you commission.
Someone who has ordered from you ten times already knows your name. Every time they reorder through an app, you pay a fee for a customer you found yourself.
Keep 100% of the order
No commission line on any order. Payments go straight from your customer into your own Stripe account and XMD never holds your money. You still pay Stripe's normal card processing fees, just as you would on any card machine.
Own the relationship
Every order comes from your own site, so you know who your regulars are. That's the start of offers, loyalty and texts that bring people back on a quiet Tuesday.
A kitchen that just runs
The DirectServe till has a built-in thermal printer. The moment payment clears, the ticket prints: itemised, timed, and with nobody needing to watch a tablet.
Keep the apps for discovery. Move your regulars home.
You don't have to come off the marketplaces overnight. Most takeaways run their own ordering alongside the apps, then move regular customers across over time.
We build your site
Your menu, branding and photos on a fast, mobile-first ordering site on your own domain, with allergens per item and a postcode delivery checker.
Your till arrives ready
Pre-configured. Plug it in, connect to Wi-Fi, and it's ready to print orders.
Tell your regulars
Put your ordering link on your Google Business Profile, menus, bags, receipts and social pages. Every reorder through your own site is one with no commission on it.
Common questions.
Can I use DirectServe and Just Eat at the same time?
Yes. Plenty of takeaways keep a marketplace listing for new customers and use their own ordering site for regulars. You can also run both while you serve out any notice period on an existing contract, then decide what to keep.
Is DirectServe really commission free?
Yes. XMD takes no percentage of your orders. Payments go into your own Stripe account, where Stripe's standard card processing fees apply, the same as any card payment you take today.
Do my customers need to download an app?
No. They order on your website from any phone or computer and pay by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or cash on collection. They get a text confirmation when they order and updates as the food is accepted and ready.
Who handles delivery?
You do, with your own drivers, or you offer collection only. DirectServe handles the ordering, payment and printing, and you set your delivery zones by postcode in the admin dashboard.
Can I keep my current domain?
Yes. Your ordering site runs on your own domain, so customers go to the web address they already know. If you don't have one yet, we'll sort it as part of setup.
